The Function of Skin Pass Mill in Galvanizing Line

In the modern steel manufacturing and surface treatment industry, the skin pass mill plays a crucial role, especially in the galvanizing line. A galvanizing line is designed to coat steel sheets with a layer of zinc to enhance their corrosion resistance. The skin pass process, which is an integral part of this line, significantly improves the quality and appearance of the galvanized products.

The Function of Skin Pass Mill in the Galvanizing Line

The skin pass mill is used to improve the surface quality of the product and change the surface perfection. At the same time, it can relieve certain stress and eliminate the yield plateau, and improve the sheet shape. The skin pass mill is located between the post strip cooling device and the Leveller in the hot-dip galvanizing production line.

The main functions are as follows:

1. Achieve the required surface roughness of the galvanized strip to enhance the adhesion of the coating.
2. Flatten the uneven parts to improve the straightness and flatness of the galvanized sheet.
3. Improve the mechanical properties of the galvanized sheet, reduce or eliminate the yield plateau, and prevent the appearance of slip lines during subsequent deep-drawing or stretching processes.
4. Flatten the small spangle to improve the production quality of the subsequent color-coating process.
